FAQs

1. Are the YouTube videos enough to pass my course, or do I also need the paid Udemy course?

My YouTube playlists cover every topic up to the mid-term for OChem 1, OChem 2, and Biochemistry based on the University of Alberta curriculum, using the exact same lesson videos that appear inside the Udemy courses. They’re a great way to sample my teaching style and get comfortable with the fundamentals.

What the Udemy course adds is structure and depth for the entire semester: full-length lecture series, practice problem sets with step-by-step solutions, and a built-in Q&A forum where you can ask me questions directly and get a personal reply on Udemy

Many students rely on the free playlists to help them through the mid-term, then enroll in the course once they know what the videos offer.

2. What’s included in each Udemy course?

OChem 1 (Organic Chemistry I) – roughly 15 hours of video, broken into bite-size lessons that follow the U of A syllabus. You also get downloadable summary sheets, a large bank practice problems with step-by-step solutions, all with lifetime access!

OChem 2 (Organic Chemistry II) – another 15 hours of lecture-style video, plus the same package of practice problems, solution walkthroughs, summary sheets, lifetime access, and Q&A support.

Biochemistry (launching Fall 2025) – an estimated 10 hours of video at launch, growing over time as I add new topics. Unlike the OChem courses, questions will be multiple choice across all the topics, as most biochemistry courses rely heavily on multiple choice questions.

For all three courses, you can post questions in the built-in Udemy Q&A forum any time and I’ll reply personally. New practice sets and review sheets are added free of charge, so the course library keeps expanding long after you enroll.

3. What if I purchase a course and decide it’s not for me?

No worries, Udemy’s standard 30-day money-back guarantee applies. Just request the refund through your Udemy dashboard and the platform reverses the payment automatically, no questions asked.

4. Do the courses match the University of Alberta syllabus (CHEM 261/263/265)?

Yes. Every module, example, and practice set was built directly from the U of A lecture notes and past exams, so the sequence lines up with CHEM 261, 263, and 265. From a decade of tutoring across Canada: including SFU, U Calgary, and other schools, I’ve found that the core content of OChem 1 and 2 is 90 % identical nationwide; only the order changes.

Whichever way your instructor shuffles topics, the complete set is waiting in the course. I also flag which lessons correspond to each chapter and keep the material updated if a department tweaks its syllabus, so you’re always practicing the right reactions and mechanisms for your exam.

5. I’m not at the University of Alberta or Simon Fraser University, will this still match my course?

Very likely, yes. Organic Chemistry and introductory Biochemistry syllabi are remarkably consistent across Canadian (and many international) universities; the main difference is often just the order in which topics are taught. If you’re unsure, email me with a copy of your syllabus, and I’ll confirm if my courses fit your school’s curriculum well!

6. How Long Do I have Access to your courses?

Enrollment comes with lifetime access. After you purchase, the videos and all downloadable resources stay in your Udemy library forever, so you can stream or re-watch lessons on-demand whenever you need a refresher—next week, next semester, or years down the road.
